E1's Bits and Pieces

My life's been leaving footsteps and memories, good and bad, behind. Like this blog that I have that left untouched for so long that I, at times, tend to forget. Perhaps, it's FB that makes me not update here anymore. It's easier to connect at FB than jotting down memories in a blog.

So let's rewind back to catch up on what's up.

June: big event. got married :D
- went to Singapore and KL for honeymoon.
oh how i love June 2009 this year that i almost spent a month of holidaying...haha.

Between June and December - the usual stuffs. work related
- a colleague passed away.
- friends getting married.
- couples getting pregnant. etc. hehe.

December: sat for GO exam. Really hoping that we would get a pass at least. haha.
- couldn't sit for FR as we left for vacation.
- holiday in Singapore. we spent 6D5N this time because couldn't get enough of Singapore the last time we went in June. There were many ups and downs while we were there. While there were memorable moments, the bad moments were unfortunately the ones we tend to remember very well too. Keeping them aside, I'll think twice of going there ever again. Hujan emas di negeri orang, lebih baik hujan batu di negeri sendiri.

Typing a short post like this seems like my life been shortened in a span of six months. I guess there are just too many things happening that I could hardly even remember. There are flashes of pictures blurred in between inside this head though. haha.

As of this, its the last day of the year now. 31st December 2009. And truly time flies when you're having a good time. Holidays seems like very short despite the long month of December.

2010 awaits for all of us. Let's pray that it'll be a better year ahead, stay fresh and positive and be healthy. haha.

my lap's at the doctor coz of CPU usage problem which has gone up to a 100%. It's crazy. It's causing my lap performance to a very slow snail system. Sigh. I'm pretty disappointed as this is not my first problem with this lappy. Sent it to get it reformatted and the problem persisted. I hope sending it again will finally fix it.

It's hard not to be like 'that' and be like 'this' and not to remind you of 'that'.

It's even hard to be in a state where we say ' Hey, I've seen that before somewhere', so in the end we just have to find something else 'new'. And again, being 'new' is not always NEW.
haha. I'm repeating my self. u get the drift. It's hard to be ORIGINAL. Something original is hard to find. SOmething new is always as a result of 'one-thing-leads-to-another' and thus making it better.

Macam kereta model baru. We'll always relate to what we have seen before and up to a point criticising a new model as a 'copycat' of 'this' model.

went with sally to look for Kia's new model in the market named "Soul'. Damn nice. We also like the Cerato model. Wait till the Koup version comes into the market and I believe it'll be a hit. U must be thinking that we're joking talking abt the Kia right? nope. See for yourself and u'll be amazed on how 'i wish i could own that' feeling u'll get.

had a bbq at Sally's ngangah then we went to RIPAS emergency to meet the doctor. i need some ailments to cure my beautiful voice and about to get worse sickness. We were there almost at 2300hrs. and we waited for almost 2 hours for our turn! never thought there'd be many pple at the middle of the night. Sigh. I slept in public on bench like you see a beggar dozing off on a bench in movies....

I was supposed to have a night at a 'hotel' but changed my mind as I had nothing to do there so decided to join Sally's invitation to jog around Masjid Qlap..

While we were about to leave the scene, there's this one Indon guy dressed ala rocker, and we had this terrible thing in our head still about strangers asking for help/questions...and since we were 'exposed' , we were approached lah by this guy and he asked where's this bookstore in kiarong..So told him that it;s just right across the mosque... and off he went....

*fuuh* that was close...
no bad thing happen.

I dunno why, but we are always approachable by strangers.
haha and that includes salesman and promoters...hmmm free food samples, anyone ? hehe..anytime..

I was losing my voice past 2 days and i was suggested to drink air asam jawa campur gula dan garam. didnt have the chance to make one on my own so decided to just buy the ready made one from a supermarket. atupun Sally yg suggest that they have the commercial version hehe. I hope i can have my voice back by tmw.

A Mystery Story. It is not.

While still in our car in one of the parking lot in Gadong, time was around 1915 ish, a Malay guy was knocking on our car window's asking for questions. I reluctantly did not do him any favour of offering him any help coz of safety reasons. Besides, why would he wanna ask us when other shops were open and readily available for questions, isn't it ? Scary eh...luckily our windows and doors were all shut...

The title above was a composition I asked my students to do, and all I read was almost the same thing or almost the same cliche stories you could have imagined in ur head. Haha! pontianak tya, heard a sound tya while left all alone at home tya; and suddenly I woke up and realised I was dreaming tya etc... u know haha...predictable. They are probably exposed to the same movies that everyone's watching, thus lack in creativity and imagination. A little twist here and ther would have been better.

I had another haircut just now. and the last i remember i had one was last 2 or 3 weeks. Which means it's the 2nd haircut i had in a montH! Huhu.

I need to be reminded that i need to focus and be on track. there are many things that I need to do and get done ASAP. and these things are actually very simple and very easy and takes less time than I thought it would. it's just that i procastinate and hope by the end of the day it's gonna be alright when actually it;s the other way round. Sigh. FOCUS MAN!

Kittens

It's a rare sight for us at home to have kittens as we don't have cats. The pictures above are of our neighbour's cat who just happened to deliver outside our house. The mother's been changing places of its kittens and the above was the last one she left. I took the chance to snap some of its pics before she took it away.

I have not seen any of the kittens now. I remember it was four of them altogether. They must be healthy and grown a little already hehe.

The screwdriver serves as a measure of scale on how small the kitten was. No harm was done at the kitten at all, that's just for your info ;)

Salam.

First up, there's a new iPod Shuffle. Hehe. You know how tiny the shuffle was and now it's even tinier ( i think) and sounds nicer(feature wise). All the good of a shuffle plus a new feature they put in this time, called Voiceover. Click here to know more. Personally, I dont really find it interesting though, nevertheless it's a new feature that's non existent in other ultra-portable players.

I used to listen to the music using my shuffle while jogging, and now that I'm back to jogging alongside my teddy bear Sally (haha), I kinda missed not having it. Note, I often jog away from her coz she's taking her own sweet time .. right Love, haha! :D

But she's catching up. kan. hehe.
Hope we can maintain 'tiring' ourselves at least 3 times a week ah love.
We need to get in shape.
As in IN shape. haha.

My bday's coming up. And I want the shuffle. hint2. haha.

Kebangsaan 25 Tahun

I don't remember when's my last involvement in celebrating National Day. Flag waving or the dances (which i think I've never involved in) and perbarisan lalu .. .. hmm nth bilakah last ku involved.

But it's this year that once again I got myself involved (perbarisan lalu) under different cause. 25 years reminded me of my age on how young we still are as a country. The whole thing was tiring; waking up early in the morning for almost everyday in a week and had to wait for hours in preparation for the perbarisan lalu did take up a lot of patience. It may be a waste of time but the experience we get from this kind of activity that makes it worthwhile.

So if people asked what have I contributed to my country for it's Silver Jubilee celebration? It's got to be the perbarisan lalu (among other things hehe). Remember, all the preparation and everything (time, effort and other sacrifices) have contributed towards the success of today's main event at the stadium. And every Bruneian involved should be really proud.

Different Imaging

It's not hard for us to say if a picture is good or the other way round.
We judge things by the things we have seen before and thus make a comparison between the good and the bad and learn from it.

Some images look good on a laptop.
They may only look good on a laptop and not when it's printed out.
Laptops can fool ur eyes.
but its the people at the photo shops who cuci our images that spoil everything.
is it?
or is our eyes nt good enough to be a critical judge to manipulate a good picture ?

Too many human errors lah taking place......

So may I suggest to you readers not to edit ur pics on ur pc so much. A pic taken by ur cameras are actually good enough to be developed and cuci by the photo shops people. Manipulations are cool but have it at its minimum. The simpler the better.

Just an advice to share ;)

Take out your diskettes.....huh? disc what?

Does anybody still use diskettes these days ?
Y'knw we'll be given a diskette if we wanna take passport pictures of us at the studios and we'll be charged $7 for 4 pics and a diskette. The purpose of the diskette is for the soft copy of our picture.

When's the last time I ever use a diskette?

So I asked the person if they could just transfer the picture to my pendrive since I dont have a diskette slot on my laptop. I was stupidly rejected, and they say Sorry sir, we cant. We only accept CDs.

WTH???

Technology has become so advance that even a diskette which was once new can become so old that we have already forgotten about it yet out there, there are some people who use them.
I'd say to those who still use diskettes, let's swim with the fish will you!

It was raining heavily last night and i had this view of the mosque in my car and some branches of tree obstructing my view. The colours blend just perfectly tho the image of the mosque isn't clear. However it has the look as if the mosque is painted isn't it.

It suddenly appears that rain cause me or us to freak out. Screaming inside, please stop, please...
And that's if you live in a flood prone areas. Low lying, and even those living in slightly hilly areas with the risk of having landslides would wish that the rain would stop and wouldn't be as bad.

I'm not complaining. What is there to rant about if this is what God's given to us. Some will benefit and some will lose.

I didn't attend work again today as our place of resident was surrounded with heavy flood. So heavy that it's even worst than last week's(above picture). My prayers go to those who will have their most important day/s this weekend as its normal to have weddings and the like every Sunday. It does feel devastating to see our neighbour's house flooded and they are going to have their son's wedding this weekend. I really hope the weather will be good these coming days.

Spent almost the whole day here. To attend a workshop. It was fun. Food's great. Just that the workshop could have been improved with lotsa practicals.

Pictures look even better if we can view them on a larger screen.

I just found out that most of the pics i posted look far better on a 17'' monitor (or bigger) than a 13.3" monitor on my laptop. But strange somehow it looks good too on a small screen...like an ipod touch.

I bought myself an extra storage of 1TB to store my growing images. I really hope that would be sufficient for err years.

and oh there's gonna be a new format for SD card users. It's called SDXC which will be able to offer up to terabytes of data! That's a lot of images in a small card you know. But unfortunately current cameras are not compatible with the new format. It'll be out pretty soon this year.

All these make me wanna have new SD card and a bigger larger monitor screen :D

Oh, yesterday marks another important day for me and Sally. The time will come. And when it comes it'll fly, it'll make us sweat and our heart beat faster than ever before. Unbelievably, it's finally dealt with despite years of delay. Haha.

The person's saluting is also our friend who posed for the camera. It's rather informal as you can see him without the barrett (the hat that soldiers wear). Position of the right hand is just at the tip of the person's eyebrow...

Trapped for 30mins

Took the pic in bandar ard 1045 last night. enjoying the silence of Bandar at night. Watching the brightly lit moon and resisting the cold of night. without realising the time was already 11. So we headed back to our parking at Yayasan. thinking that we could get out for free without paying for the ticket. Skalinya apanah. There's not even a single car in the lot and no parking attendant on duty anymore! in other words, we were trapped, not being able to go out! so we went roaming around by car dari atas we went down trying to find anybody who's working; security personnel was outtasight. So we went back up, and we went to the front area of Yayasan. One door was still open so we went in and bagi Salam. thought nada org, baik jua ada! haha. the securities. Luckily they were there. Or else we could've spent the night in Bandar. eh salah, my car could've left there for the night hehe.

It's panicky from the beggining knowing that there's no parking attendant on duty. we ended up looking for loopholes for almost half an hour enough to make us take a deep breathe and sweat, a little. Haha. Love, akhirnya nda jua pyh mbayar $1, but we ended up in a bad way haha.

This is my first post for the year 2009.

Doh.

Haha.

Holidays past so quickly that we feel like we need another month of doing nothing. Isn't it. haha.

Reflecting 2008, many things have happened in my life.
Too many that recalling it in this post wont fit. And I dont think you want to know jua. Hehe.

Professionally (work), I will be bearing even more workloads. I don't know how I will be able to cope with this. I really hope it's bearable and worth all the effort. Otherwise it'll just be a waste of time.

Sally and I have also been involving ourselves with one of the most expensive hobby and interest of all time. No matter whether they say digital or analog. It still costs money. Hehe. And I'm talking about photography. It is growing and it's proven by the increasing number of pictures that we post in our blogs and further to prove it, the birth of 'kakitiga'.

Even more important this year will mark a very important history in my love life with Sally. Aah... tunggu je lah. Haha. Insyaallah. What's sure is that there will be 'clashes of events' because many of our friends will be having their important day too on the same date.

Till then, all the best for 2009 to all of us!

Salam.

Had dinner somewhere in Gadong with family. It's our first time there. And would u believe that we waited about an hour ( plus or more) just to get the food on the table? pretty annoying man. What's even more annoying was seeing the other customers in the other room who came later than us got their food earlier than us! Sampai habis dorg makan bah mkanan kami alum ada. Baik jua d order ane nyman. Mun nda melatop sudah masa mbyar d cashier atu tu. Haha.

understandably it's bonus time, yes. But come on lah... an hour plus? eeeeeiH!!! sasak ku maseh haha.

*burp* kanyang sudah. Alhamdulillah. I simply hate it when clearing the table, giving us the menu and taking our orders and putting our food on the table took more than an hour. Ordered mostly warm water pun 10-15min. Paloi kali eh haha. nah lagi...

Anyways, I really had a very long and good sleep today. I finally felt totally exhausted and the sleep I had were just satisfying haha.

Family's gone out of country yesterday and I don't really know when they are coming back home. I really wish I could have joined them but sigh not entitled yet for holidays.

I'm tired and exhausted.

Waking up early, had to go like 30km a day on one way and went home at abt dawn, back home ampar lalah hantap. Fried up under the sun. Sweating like crazy. Had to stand still, no talking and no itching - but no problems with food and drinks though. Hehe. Had been doing this for the past 2 weeks, attending a course, not a crash course plg haha - which explains why I've not moved alot in my posts.

Now trying to catch up on my normal life and trying to make full use of this short holidays. Haha.

Just trying something different here. Could've done it in different colours ala Beatles-album cover but at the mo will do with this one first.

updates: I've been away from my camera that shooting is almost none in the past few days but it's good to finally have touched it when taking a pic of the full moon.

The way the pmb results is distributed has caused alot of mixed reaction among parents and students alike. Let's see how relevant authorities will cope with this issue.

I've been away and lacking updates as I am very packed in my activity of 'bathing in the sun' till my face got tanned. Will continue doing so till the 19th. But my tanned will stay for much longer than that, *sigh*

Got wedding to attend to later on.

Oh Sang Burung dan Bunga mewarni

The bird's taken at the back of my house. A tough one that one coz it's quite far and the bird's keep on rubbing its body with its beak coz kegatalan hehe. The shot was finally spot on as it stood still and upright. It looks like as if it's lookin at the camera isnt it hehe.

This one's taken in Damuan. Sally and I were really surprised by this colourful flower. She got her version in K3 if u browse slowly. I don't know the name of these flowers hehe. Oh, and if you look closely you can see some ants roaming around the flower. Haha!

We accidentally drop by this beach yesterday while looking for a place. We ended up spending our late afternoon there snapping pics and enjoying the sunset.
The place is really nice.
Seluas mata memandang and cars can park along the beach.
There were some wave breakers and we stood on one up to a point where Sally got splashed by the wave. Haha. Pretty scary but fun. More pics will be posted in kakitiga later.

I seem to be wide awake still despite time's showing almost 0430. And that's 4:30am in the morning!

I had a really long sleep and a glass of 3-in-1 Nescafe earlier which probably explained my wide-eyed. And I was adding some pics here and in here. Though not many hehe.

Trying this effect called 'glossy effect'. It's that white thing covering the picture that you can see. Does it annoy u? haha.
Got this pic at Taman Jubli late afternoon after the rain.
Surprisingly there were lots of these snails and only this picture that seemed *ehem* X-rated. Haha!

There were also other flying creatures that we took. One is captured here.
We were caught by the big number of this bird that our present were noticeable and flew them away. They really look like scientists wearing 'white-coats' ;)

The lines of death re-appeared for the 2nd time. I don't know when will my lap be back to my lap again.

Remember my post last week about 'Aku hampa padamu, Dell'?

I came up to a conclusion it's not Dell whose causing the problem. Source of problem is unknown. I've googled about the problem: it could be the motherboard, the graphicscard, the ram, the Operating System (Vista 32bit) and lastly could be the freaking Dell itself. Screw you(Dell!) Haha. Sasak ku eh. How am I supposed to do my work like this! :( Lucky Sally's helpful. I thank you love.

So, for the coming days to come I will again battling myself in completing the endless tasks I'm thrown to do. Awu nada org lain. Aku jua kna suruh. Haha. Bah, AMN you can quote me on this. Haha.

Saya hampa sungguh-sungguh.

My laptop's been sent for service again because I realised the fan didnt stop spinning and it's making a noise which is quite audible - hissing sound, like a wind blowing non-stop.

I hate it when it's time when I need the laptop urgently to do some work and things like this pop-up all of a sudden. I wish ada pop-up blocker that I can use, but that's silly. Haha.

As result, I cant update this blog as often. I've many pics to share - many things to learn and discover everyday. Its just getting better. Yea. Haha.

It's not entirely black-framed just to show you that it's not totally that dark.
And it's not totally darkness that you can actually see those bright lit things on top of the door and a carpet (actually) right at the bottom. The SOAS mosque; it's never boring to have a view of this at the outside of your door. And that's the main subject of this picture. Not the darkness that I'm talking about from the beginning. Haha!

Kami cucu2 Mulah Nini Hj Ibrahim selalu bermain2 dgn gong2 atu d kampong. Malar tah kami mengatok tu gong atu sampai kedengaran seluruh rumah. Kdg2 kna marahi p sudah basar2 ane jrg g kn d katok sama kna marahi, haha. There's no more to hit now except for the smaller gongs hehe. Oh, hitting the gong has a very pleasant echo effect actually. It sounds really smooth. Not that I have hit other gongs made by other people ever, but u know its of high quality considering it's been around for ages and genereations. And with the same audio effect of a gong.

Sayangnya, ndada cucu2nya ane yg mewarisi tradisi membuat tembaga ane lagi...It shows how young people now have no or little interest in it..

I hope by giving it to the museum, many will appreciate its art and beauty and to recognise that there once was a great artist of coppermaking in Brunei.

It's just been raining lately. It's even raining now that it doesn't seem to stop. I like this weather. Very cool and nice and cool to sleep to even do anything.

MOE's supposed to be having their 'Teachers' Day Walkhaton' this morning but I don't think it's on. Hmm, I wonder what alternative they have for their plan B. 'Walkathon using umbrella' perhaps. Sally wanted to attend this event but since its raining she decided not to.

I have other plan. Another sporting event that I have to win in Tutong. It doesn't matter if it rains or not this one. Bukit Beruang here I come....

I have something to say after attending the Friday prayers.
I've experienced this last week actually and also today - it really annoys me.
Kids, talking during the sermon. and the same kids were talking again at my back!
and even worst there were also 2 teenagers probably only form 3 or 4, who were also talking!
I gave them that 'look' tapi inda fhm2 dorg ane!
Mun kanak2 nda jua,dpt jua tolerate sikit but those F3,F4 are just too much man! Apatah lagi yg lebih tua dari atu. Nda fhm kah dorg? nda kna ajar kah dorg atu yg Solat Jumaat indakan sempurna kalau nda mendgr Khutbah? Arghh.... mana nda dalam class pun nda mndgr dorg ane! mun sudah khutbah pun berckp!
