instinct, feelings, what much of a choice, then?

hmmm i often wonder if these statements are true
it explains about extreme cases about something.
dat we cant really follow our heart instinct feelings when deciding, acting upon something.
but how true? how accurate? how acceptable?
perhaps these statements relate to the emotional side of things. Which we shouldn't be individually. or else.....
