Chinese products are now everywhere!

China is one of the fastest growing economy in the world today. surpassing japan and the US. considering their enormous economic development in a short time span. do i sound serious? hahah. its a fact. its a fact that they are also known for selling fake, counterfeited, copied goods.

just about yesterday i bought myself a new racquet, Yonex Armortec 700. Very light and very good on my hands. liking the feel of it, i bought it for a mere $40. shocked with the price and with that feel of a racquet. (an original racquet would normally cost around $150-$250)

back home, i visited yonex's site to make sure that what i bought is not outdated, and indeed i was right. hahah. infact its widely used by top performance players. fuuh. although its a fake, but its a good fake i reckon. hahah.

ive read in forums that in china, they dont mention the word 'fakes' when doing business, instead they use the term grade AA, grade A, grade B etc. i believe we've heard of this too before, especially with women's handbags, where the grade A quality being made from korea, whilst the not so good fake is made from taiwan/china.

now, shopping anywhere in brunei is becoming hard now, with the influx of the chinese-made products. and its not just chinese-made but some other countries as well. they are copy-cats : copying exactly like the original and sell them at cheaper price or sometimes, being sold at quite an expensive ridiculous prices. the top issue regarding these products is definitely quality.

i went to a superstore around my place and there are abundance of chinese goods! it seems like its gonna close, after what, 2 -3 years of business? sad lah...maybe its the new branch of huaho (tanjong bunut) dat made this kind of superstore suffer...... 'battle of the big fish vs small fish'...

oh yea, and i also saw another 'copy' of my racquet there, being sold at 60 ish....without string lagi tu, so, m glad that i bought it at a cheaper price ;)

So my question is: do we have choice of not buying fakes here in brunei?? do we prefer originals and expensive goods? do we have that purchasing power? or we rather stick to the way things are done here: buy fakes at cheaper and affordable prices.

The way i see things are going here, i believe an average shopper here would prefer to be of the latter type. I guess we have no choice kan. Do we?

Imagine this: pirated cds. we know there are originals otherwise it wont be copied. but do we have the originals here being sold as quick as how the pirated versions hit the shelves? i doubt so. and in most cases, the originals never arrived. frustrated, one would rather go for the pirated copy, besides its cheaper and quality pun not bad.

its like a dilemma lah now. buying pirated cds are considered to be morally wrong, but what if we dont have a choice? what, do we have to go to singapore to buy just a cd? not everyone can do that. besides, its even more expensive to go there: tickets, accommodation, transport, makan....

musically, the internet is heaven. huhuhu. free downloads yo....its been a while i havent bought a cd from komunis. ( yes, the internet is another choice we have: for free, though we have to pay for espeed cost)

aaah.......imitations, duplications, counterfeits, we live with them everywhere here.....everywhere we go.....its just coming more and more.....
